Anglesea Beachfront Family Caravan Park sign

Online petition attracts over 3500 signatures

Anglesea lease controversy heads to Supreme Court

Have your say

OPERATORS of the Anglesea Beachfront Family Caravan Park in Victoria are taking Supreme Court action after they was rejected in a controversial tender process for a new lease.

The Morris family has run the award-winning 539-site park for 20 years.

But the Great Ocean Road Coast Committee (GORCC) announced it will take over the 4.5-star park at the end of its lease on December 1 next year after claiming the tender process failed to yield "an acceptable proposal for the value of the site".

The flabbergasted Morris family now wants the decision overturned and believes it has a strong case.

Meanwhile, an online petition backing the family and claiming the GORCC had "snubbed" its multi-million dollar investment in the park, has attracted over 3500 signatures.

A Supreme Court directions hearing is scheduled for August 10.
