Sales exceed all expectations

Adria becoming a driving force on Aussie roads

EUROPEAN recreational vehicle manufacturer Adria has made significant inroads into the Australian market since its launch here nearly two years ago.

More than 250 Adria caravans are now on Australian roads, and the brand has exceeded sales expectations.

Adria: driving force on Australian roads"Adria's success here is based on high quality, low cost and lightweight construction, traits that have seen the brand carve a niche in the crowded Australian market," Adria Australia spokesman Andrew Scott said.

Adria Mobil is the sixth-largest manufacturer of RVs in Europe, with a 6.5 percent share of the total European leisure vehicle market and more than 20 percent share of markets like Italy and Scandinavia.

The 41-year-old brand exports to 26 countries in Europe and offshore.

"The modern layouts combine flowing space with practicality, and every Adria caravan features a shower and toilet as standard," Mr Scott said.

"Adria caravans are constructed using extremely strong, but lightweight materials, ensuring durability as well as reducing tow-vehicle fuel consumption whilst on the road," he added.

Four Adria caravan models are offered in Australia: Altea, Adora, Action and Adiva, through a national network of five dealers.

Mr Scott believes Adrias are amongst the best value caravans on the market thanks to recommended retail prices sometimes as much as 20 percent lower than that of equivalent competition.

All Adria caravans sold in Australia include reinforcing in the chassis and walls to increase their structural integrity and durability, ensuring long-term endurance in tough Australian conditions.

Adria's new $58 million best-practice factory in Slovenia employs more than 1400 people and has an annual maximum capacity of 17,000 vehicles each shift - an increase of more than 30 percent than previous capacity.

Sales demand has increased fivefold in the last decade to more than 14,000 units each year.

The Adria factory practices what it calls 'Super Control', a total quality testing procedure where 10 percent of products are taken off the production line for complete and thorough testing.

In 2003 the new Adria factory qualified for the ISO 9001:2000 Quality Assurance Standard, a set of quality management standards and requirements that are supported and recognised by national standards bodies in 120 countries.
